The National Archives of Latvia is an institution established in 2011 operating under the Ministry of Culture. It is formed of functional and territorial structural units, including the Latvian State Historical Archives, the State Archive of Latvia, the Latvia State Archive of Audiovisual Materials, the State Archives of Personnel Files, and 11 regional archives. Each of the archives ensures storage, availability, use of accumulated files and provision of services to the public.

The National Archives of Latvia (hereinafter — also the NAL) is managed by the Administration, which implements the state policy in the area of governing state policy documents and archives, monitors and coordinates the operations of structural units (including the State Archives) in the areas of document accumulation, storage, usage, accessibility to documents and provision of archive services.
