READING ROOMS

The Latvian State Historical Archives contain documents dating from 1220 until 1945. The most valuable collections of the archives are formed of documents of chancelleries of the Vidzeme and Kurzeme knighthood, Kurzeme Duchy, Baltic Governor General, Vidzeme and Kurzeme Governors, the oldest documents of the Riga City Archives, as well as archives of manor estates, churches, congregations and private archives. An important part of the archives is made of documents of institutions of the Republic of Latvia (1918-1940) and of the German occupation period (1941-1945).
